An Interview with Brent Gartin – Kansas City, MO Branch Manager
What do you do better than anyone else?
Organization is key for our branch. We service a wide reaching territory and everyone in the branch needs to be on the same page from the drivers and service crew to the office personnel. We have a board that shows all the deliveries for the week. Everyone in the branch has access to it and can see at a glance what is already scheduled for the day. It has helped us to become the #1 branch in the company for several years running.
Please tell us a recent customer success story or proud branch moment.
A great example of knowing what we have in inventory happened recently with a customer looking for a toilet trailer. Many of our competitors didn’t have a building on hand and either refused to provide a proposal because they lacked the inventory or needed to quote new product which is significantly more expensive than a used building. Because our branch keeps our fleet of buildings ready to go and in like-new condition, we were able to deliver the building immediately to the customer’s site. The customer was very happy with our service and even recommended us to some of the subcontractors on site as well. That is the ultimate compliment you can receive from a customer.

What makes the Kansas City area special, challenging or unique?
Since the territory that the Kansas City branch services is wide reaching, we actually have two lots: one in Kansas City, Missouri and one in Omaha, Nebraska. This allows us to quote local freight depending on where our clients’ projects are.
Another challenge is knowing what buildings we have available.
With two lots, we have a lot of options when it comes to availability and our branch consistently provides fast turnaround service to our customers by having what they need on hand, ready-to-go. Whether they are looking for new or used buildings, we are prepared and know what buildings we have available for immediate needs.
