Exact Data Featured Supplier
An interview with: Travis Wittenburg Director of Marketing
What does Exact Data do?
We specialize in creating marketing prospect lists for our clients. We provide both B2B and B2C lists that contain postal addresses, email addresses, and/or telephone contacts.
What is the difference between a business list and a consumer list?
Business lists reach people at work. We create business prospect lists based on job title, company size, and industry.
A consumer list reaches people at home. We can build a contact list based on people’s income, interests, or geography.
How long has Exact Data been in business?
We have been in business for about 15 years and have 150 employees.
“The list was delivered before the time promised. Excellent sales rep! Would refer to others when they are interested. I will use again too! ”
Lisa Goldman, Satisfied Client
What is your service area?
Most of our clients are based in the U.S. and Canada, but we can provide international data as well. For example, if you want to reach people in Germany, we can do that.
What differentiates Exact Data from its competitors?
We provide our clients with the most up-to-date-information possible. The industry standard update contacts every 90 days, but we do an update every 30 days, removing contacts that are no longer valid.
How do you create a prospect list?
A client comes to us looking for a telemarketing list. Our sales rep will work with the client to figure out who they are trying to reach out to. After parameters are set for the contact list, our fulfillment team will pull the data and deliver it to our client.
How do you help clients narrow down their parameters?
We help clients narrow their target audience. They may come to us with little knowledge of all the options available to help them develop an effective list. We have 700 different filters, or selects, to help build the perfect target audience for consumers. We use basic demographics such as age, ethnicity, and income. And, we offer more selects based on interests or website subscriptions.
On the business side, we have over 50 different selects to help build an audience. These lists directly impact our clients’ successful market campaigns.
“Exact Data did an excellent job providing as much information as was legally possible. Take very good care of the people you have in place, they did an excellent job.”
Annette Rummel, Satisfied Client
Which telemarketing terms can you help us better understand?
- Select – this is a filter for our database. Examples: an age or income select.
- Count – how many records we have that match a client’s select.
How do you know Exact Data is creating quality lists?
About half of our business is repeat business. Accurate, up-to-date, focused lists keep clients coming back. Some of our larger clients include National Geographic, PayPal, Dell, and Adobe.
How do you establish pricing?
Pricing is established per list. The more records a client purchases, the cheaper per record the list becomes. Additionally, as more selects are layered on, the cost of the list will increase.
Usually, clients know who they are looking to target. Our account execs look at our database and see how many contacts we have that meet a client’s criteria. From there we move on to pricing.
How does a client access their prospect list?
When a client purchases a prospect list, we provide a secure login to our website so they can log in and then download their list. Once they have access to their list, a client can use it as many times as they want.
What is your perspective on the future of telemarketing?
People are working with data analytics and utilizing databases for telemarketing campaigns. I don’t see that slowing down.
Direct email marketing and text ads on social media are fast growing marketing sectors. Clients like the option of pay-per-click (PPC) ads on Facebook and Yahoo because they only pay for customers who actually click on the ad.
