Tell us about ECC Technology Services.

ECC is a national account/dealership for Kyocera and Sharp copiers. We provide full document solutions, phone systems, IT and IT support. We pride ourselves on being on the cutting edge of industry trends.

What is ECC’s mission statement?

Our mission is to give you the peace of mind that your IT projects are in good hands and being completed by experts so you can focus on what matters: growing your business. We provide efficient and cost-effective service that combines the latest in technology with the expertise of the ECC Technology Services team. Although each client conducts their business differently, the requirements are the always the same — technology must be cost-effective, reliable and sustainable for their business long-term.

How long have you been in business?

ECC has been in business since 2005. Collectively, our team has been in the office equipment business for 20 years.

What is your service area?

We are a nationwide office equipment company with our core business in southern California.

What trends do you see in the industry?

Companies are becoming more and more interested in electronic document management solutions. We offer a wide array of document filing solutions as well. Instead of calling it a paperless environment, I call it a less-paper environment. There will always be a need for paper and running paper through the office. ECC helps companies streamline documents so that more of their information is available electronically.

Who is your ideal customer?

Our customers range from little mom-and-pop business to hospitals and schools. We put the same effort in a 1-copier deal as we would for a 100-copier contract.

What differentiates ECC from its competitors?

We are different from competitors in that we offer a variety of services. Most copier companies only handle copier and printer sales. ECC provides IT, phone systems and supplies in addition to copiers. We meet the needs of our customers, both big and small. Somebody can call us for a bottle of toner or we can set up their whole network. I don’t know of any other company that does that.

We have 25 employees along with 25 contractors. Our extensive staff makes great customer service happen. Our service response time is 1-4 hours, 24/7, for all our clients. Something unique to ECC is that everyone is connected by email. Each service request goes to every one of our employees to assure the issue is addressed in a timely manner. We KNOW our customers, and someone is always on the other end either by phone or email to respond.

When we go into a business for a copier deal, we assess the company’s pains and needs. We make recommendations and can customize a lease to include the phone system, copier, and IT all in one contract. This streamlined, consolidated approach differs from our competitors’ fragmented contracts. One invoice for multiple products and services sets ECC apart in our industry. We also provide delivery and training on all of our products.

Tell us about a time when ECC went above and beyond for a customer.

A customer based in Las Vegas was traveling for business in California. The customer ran out of toner and needed more to complete a very large print order on time. She sent out an email request to ECC for help. Within an hour on a Sunday morning, we had hand-delivered the toner and the project was completed by the deadline.

We get all of the following questions on a regular basis:

Do you recommend leasing or purchasing office equipment?

We offer our office equipment for lease or sale, but I will say that about 95% of our customers lease. The upside to leasing is the flexibility it offers, allowing you to upgrade your lease at any time. If your business grows and you need more powerful equipment or if you just want to upgrade to a newer model, your lease can easily be adjusted. Service is tied to all leases, and you can always have the newest version. An ECC lease requires no money out of pocket. You just get the equipment you need and begin making monthly payments. At ECC, we have policies and contracts written with all major external leasing companies, but we also offer in-house leasing.

What is most important for customers to know when buying a new copier?

Know who you are buying from. There is a lot of turnover in the office equipment industry. We have been doing this a long time, so we know our products.
