What does 360 Dynamic Technology do?

360 Dynamic Technology rents, sells and leases copiers, scanners, and large screen monitors in Southern California. Our primary focus is the copier business. We help our customers increase efficiency and reduce costs by improving their document workflow. Everyone on our team has 10 to 30 years of experience in the copier industry.

Does 360 Dynamic Technology handle shipping/delivery?

We have our own trucks and drivers who deliver our products. We also have a dedicated IT staff who just do networking. About 95% of copiers are networked now, meaning people can print documents from their computer to the copier and it’s all on the same network. It makes everything smoother and easier. Our team can set that up for you.

What is your service area?

We do business with all of Southern California, which includes the following counties:

  • Los Angeles
  • Orange
  • Riverside
  • San Bernardino
  • San Diego

If you look at it on a map, all those counties combined include about 20 million people.

What differentiates 360 Dynamic Technology from your competitors?

  • 360 Dynamic Technology is an Authorized Sharp Dealer. Most copier dealerships are not authorized dealers. They are just mom and pop shops. In order to be an Authorized Sharp Dealer, we have to abide by the rules of Sharp Electronics, which are pretty stringent. We have a master technician who is certified by Sharp, and are one of the fastest growing Sharp dealers in the U.S.
  • 360 Dynamic Technology provides excellent service. When we get a call that a copy machine needs service, we can generally be working on the machine within 4 hours. That’s hard to do because Southern California is so big. Our technicians live in the areas they service. They are home-based in specific areas. They work directly for us. We don’t contract out for help. We only hire experienced technicians. Most of our employees have 10-15 years of experience in the industry.
  • 360 Dynamic Technology rents copiers. We offer contracts for as short as 1 week on copier rentals. Most of our competitors only lease or sell. If you can’t afford to buy a copier or if a bank won’t extend you a lease, you can come to us and we offer you the option to rent. Whether you need a small desktop copier or a high-volume multi-function printer, we can deliver a rental unit the same day.

Why would someone want to rent a copier?

Most people cannot afford to purchase a copier outright. In order to lease a copier, you have to be in business for over 2.5 years before a bank will even take you on and extend credit to you. That’s across the board in almost every industry. So, if if you are starting a new business, you won’t even have the option to lease. But, you could rent a copier. People don’t realize that when you lease a copier, you have to pay a tax on the lease and tax on the copier itself. You have to depreciate the equipment as a business expense even though you never actually own it. In California, when you rent a copier, it’s a business write-off. You don’t have to depreciate it because you don’t own it, and you don’t have to pay a business tax on it. You only have to pay a state tax. From an accounting perspective, renting is the way to go because renting saves you money on your taxes.

There are so many benefits to renting from 360 Dynamic. There are no credit checks for rentals; we charge for pick-up and delivery upfront; we take credit cards. We offer weekly, monthly, yearly, or long-term contracts. And, maintenance and toner are included in the contracts. Everything is included except paper and staples.

For example, here in the state of California, people sue each other like crazy! Lawyers will setup what they call “war rooms” for trials. They are only there for a couple weeks as far as the trial goes, and then they are finished. They may fire off 100,000 copies in those weeks. It happens all the time. It’s a perfect situation for renting a copier.

When do you recommend buying a copier?

360 Dynamic Technology does not recommend buying a copier unless you are printing less than 1000 copies per month. Copiers that print under 1,000 copies per month don’t need a lot of maintenance and are inexpensive. If the machine dies, you simply replace it. If you print more than 1,000 copies per month, the cost of maintenance is going to add up. Again, a rental or lease on a higher-volume copier is always maintained by us and we supply the toner too.

Is there ever a time that you recommend someone buy a used copier?

Yes. If a business knows they only need a copier for a couple years Say, there is a new business that can’t get a copier lease because the bank won’t take them. If they are a new business that is growing, they may not know what copier they need in the long-term, but need something to get them through the next 18 months. We can sell them a used copier or recommend renting.

What is your most popular product?

Medium size copiers that print in the 25 to 45 ppm range.

How long do copiers typically last?

The industry standard for an upgrade is 39 months. That’s the point where people “refresh” because technology changes. People want the new, shiny object. They want to be able to do what everyone else is doing in business. For example, if someone said to you, “oh, I can’t scan that document for you because I don’t have a scanner,” you’d frown on them. A few years ago, that wouldn’t have been weird, but that would be weird now.

However, if you can put up with technology that you bought 6 or 7 years ago and you haven’t killed your machine, it will last 6 or 7 years. People just don’t typically keep them that long.

Describe 360 Dynamic’s ideal customer.

We’ll help anyone in Southern California, whether it’s a new business or someone with credit issues. Sometimes people run into trouble and then they can’t get a lease. We’ll rent them a copier, mfp, scanner–whatever they need!

What do you think is most important for customers to understand when looking for a copier?

Customers need to know what their usage is in both black and white and color, as well as the number of copies. The main question to ask when looking for a copier is: how many copies per month and what percentage is in color?If a customer isn’t sure, we have ways of helping them figure it out. We’ll ask how many reams of paper they go through in a month. Once we know how many copies they print per month and what percentage is in color, we guide them to the right machine for their needs.

What is the biggest misconception that people have about copiers?

People don’t realize how complex a copier is inside. A copier has to be maintained. Copiers typically need a service call every 3 to 4 months. That’s normal. Copiers need more maintenance than cars.

If you’re printing 30,000 copies per month, you’ll likely see a technician every 3 months. If you have a little desktop printer and print a low volume, you’ll probably only see a technician once a year.

What trends do you see in the copier industry?

5 years ago, only 10% of people wanted color. Today, 90% of people want or need color. To keep up with that demand, new copiers that only print black and white have scanners that can scan in color.

Also, just 10 years ago, printing and scanning weren’t options, but now they are standard. Since office space is at such a premium in California, it is becoming increasingly important for businesses to digitally scan and electronically file their documents. We can provide a scanner that will take care of all your paper documents, so that you aren’t paying for real estate just to store documents.

The newest thing now is being able to print from your mobile device or tablet. With today’s copiers, if you have a document someone emailed to you, you can walk up to a copier and print from your mobile or tablet. Little things like that come up and are becoming standards.

Any notable business or exciting industry changes you would like to tell us about?

Document storage has drastically increased. The standard mid-size copier comes with 1 TB of storage, and 1 TB is now considered standard storage. Some copiers have pull-out keyboards where you have 10” to 12” screens. You type just like a computer and they are connected to the internet.

What is your perspective on the future of the copier industry?

The copier industry continues to grow. Fifteen years ago, we were told: “everyone is going paperless.” People were saying that the need for paper was going to die, but it is increasing yearly. Believe it or not, paper is used today more than at any other time. Even though people are scanning and emailing documents, they are still printing. When you email a document to someone, what do they do with it? They print it out. The industry is bigger than ever.
